This chapter establishes standards for the design and layout of divisions of land. These standards apply to subdivisions and conditional certificates of compliance in addition to all other applicable requirements of the municipal code. The purpose of the standards is to ensure, through careful site evaluation and design, the creation of new parcels that are compatible with existing neighborhoods, the natural environment, health and safety of city residents, and are consistent with the policies of the general plan and the community design guidelines. Standards for the physical design of streets and associated public improvements can be found in the city engineering standards, a document maintained by the city public works department. Subdivision design principles can be found in Chapter 5.2 of the city’s community design guidelines. (Ord. 1729 § 4 (Exh. A), 2023)
