A. In accordance with California Health and Safety Code Section 17921, the city will annually conduct fire and life safety inspections of multi-dwelling properties containing three or more dwelling units, including apartments, hotels, motels, lodging houses and congregate residences.

B. As provided in California Health and Safety Code Section 13146, the council will set fees by resolution to recover the reasonable costs incurred by the city in performing fire and life safety inspections of multi-dwelling properties. These fees are not incident to the ownership of property but are necessary to recover the costs reasonably incurred by the city in providing fire and life safety inspections as mandated by the state of California.

C. These fees will be collected via the secured property tax roll. (Ord. 1472 § 1, 2005)
